Girls, faith and culture are the topics people are being invited to speak into as Girls’ Brigade Ministries prompts a conversation about raising hope for girls

On International Day of the Girl 2015, GB Ministries hosted the first ever UK Girl Gathering where 40 CEOs, ministers, youth activists and advisers from around the UK were invited to meet together, and share their hope for girls.

It was a collaborative time of dreaming, hoping and looking forward - resulting in the production of what GB Ministries has called The Manifesto - a series of five commitments.

Now GB Ministries, which has a rich legacy of investing in girls for more than 123 years, is inviting others to join in with the UK Girl conversation too – either online, face-to-face or on social media.

The aim is prompt questions and facilitate discussion about the need to intentionally invest in girls in the UK & Ireland, explained GB’s Participation & Advocacy Co-ordinator Dr Claire Rush.

‘GB Ministries believes that girls and young women can lead and inspire us; girls are generation-shapers, hope-bringers and transformers of culture,' she said.

'The UK Girl conversation aims to start a discussion about girls, faith and culture. We believe that it’s time for a more hope-filled narrative for young women than what is being offered by the culture that surrounds us. GB Ministries is passionate about equipping individuals, organisations and churches to turn up the volume of hope amongst this generation of girls.

'We’d love to hear your voice in the conversation.’

Online, people are asked to share their thoughts, experiences and ideas about The Manifesto before 11 September 2016, and can also share their hope for girls on social media by holding a sign sharing their hope and the hashtag #hopeforgirls.

People can also join GB Ministries for the second UK Girl Gathering hosted by GBM on International Day of the Girl on 11 October 2016. Aimed at youth workers and church leaders passionate about investing in girls, this will be a day of discussion. Booking details to be released soon.
