Increasing Unity a Theme Ahead of Baptist Assembly in Wales

Excitement about the future and the deepening relationships in Wales are at the heart of this year's Baptist Assembly there

The event takes place on Friday and Saturday at Y Llwyfan, in Carmarthen and once again is hosted by the Baptist Union of Wales, the South Wales Baptist Association and BMS World Mission. Increasing unity a theme ahead

It is called Momentum, reflecting what has happened in previous years, and this year delegates will be finding out what it means to 'run the race' that God has set before them as a Baptist family in Wales.

Discussions have been ongoing about establishing stronger relationships between BUW, SWBA and the North Wales English Baptist Union.

Speakers include the Revd Marc Owen, the departing BUW church life secretary who will return to ministry later this year, and Ben Cooley, founder of anti-human trafficking organisation Hope for Justice.

There will also be an amalgamated business meeting for the first time.

'There's very much a feeling of being one Baptist family in Wales,' said the Revd Peter Thomas, BUW general secretary.

'There's a sense of expectation regarding the Assembly - the number of delegates are up, and interest in it is up.
'In the past we have always gone away encouraged and inspired.'
