Come Home Again - Scottish Baptist Assembly Begins
Following Christ's example of travelling to the places where it might be assumed God is not to be found, wanted, or even needed will be a feature of this year's Baptist Assembly in Scotland
The event, starting today (Thursday 25 October) and running until Saturday at Caird Hall in Dundee, is entitled Come home again - Participating in the mission of God. The Revd Alan Donaldson (pictured), general director of the Baptist Union of Scotland, opened proceedings earlier today.
Explaining that the invitation to come home again is rooted in the heart of the God who is love, conference organisers have stated that we both 'receive for ourselves and at the same time carry to others the message "Come Home Again".'
We are encouraged by God's word and Christ's example, and 'are called to travel in the power of the Spirit, to the places where God will most surely be found. On the streets, in the homes, amongst the rich and amongst the poor, the strong as well as the weakened.'
Speakers include the Revd Glen Marshall, of the Northern Baptist Learning Community, the Revd Mo Gibbs, who works part-time for the Baptist Union of Scotland as its youth development co-ordinator; the Revd Karl Martin, senior pastor of Morningside Baptist Church in Edinburgh; and the Revd Chris Duffett, president of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
The Assembly is a partnership between the Baptist Union of Scotland and BMS World Mission.
